February’s Top 25 Rankings Are In – And Then Immediately Made Irrelevant?

(NYC got back on their winning ways in January; can they move up from #3?)

February’s rankings comprised on events between 8 Dec and 1 February, and we ask those of you who know what has happened around the US to keep this in mind.

The top 3 teams in the US have not changed, with NYAC staying at #1, CalCup XIV winners San Francisco CalHeat at #2, and NYC — fresh off a sweep at their NTHL Matchday in White Plains — as #3 in the country. Chicago Inter and Boston round out the Top 5, with CalCup XIV finalist Alberta in 6th. Army WPB is 7th, followed by Houston Firehawks, Carolina Team Handball, and NYC2 in 10th.

So… What might change heading into March?

  • #1 NYAC went to the Blue Cup and finished in 3rd over Saskatchewan Juniors. This ended a 9 year streak of Blue Cup titles.
  • #9 Carolina Team Handball went and won the Blue Cup for the first time since 2007.
  • #2 San Francisco CalHeat lost by 1 in the finals of the Valley of the Sun event to Los Angeles Team Handball Club.
  • #3 NYC has matched to be played in Boston on the 29th of February. If they win those, they win the NTHL… If they don’t win though…
