(Aaron Hamm skies for the shot against USAFA-B.)
Before we begin, you should know that Army West Point Black is still #1. Everything else is much much different though.
USAFA hosted the Air Force Invitational in Colorado Springs, CO, attended from Texas Federation – Dallas THC, Carolina Team Handball, and Massif SLC. USAFA happened to defeat Carolina at this tournament, before defeating Texas Federation – Dallas THC in the final. By virtue of the win over Carolina Team Handball, USAFA is now #2 in the country.
What about Carolina? Two weeks before finishing 3rd in Colorado, Carolina went and ended the nine-year winning streak of New York Athletic Club at the Blue Cup. Carolina swept the Carolina tournaments this season, winning both the Tar Heel Invitational and the Blue Cup. Carolina didn’t fall far as a result, holding at #3.
Ohio State-Scarlet hosted their own event in Ohio during the Blue Cup weekend, inviting Cincinnati and PITT Panthers to try to best the Buckeyes on their home court. Ohio State-Scarlet swept the day, including a 12 goal victory of the Pau Sanchez-less PITT Panthers. As a result, Ohio State-Scarlet is #4 in the country.
And what about the team that upset New York Athletic Club in Chapel Hill, Army West Point Gold? They dropped in at #5 on the list, with a bright future on the horizon for the team.
Dancing around the fact that the USATH Collegiate National Championships is postponed, it is a tight race for the men’s college teams in the country, and the top teams must all feel they can take out Army West Point Black given the chance.
